Coming off of mercury retrograde and battling exhaustingly hot weather makes a rest day may feel more necessary than ever. Rest days seem easy enough – just rest! But sometimes it can be hard to completely de-stress and allow our bodies to heal. Follow these tips to allow for complete rejuvenation on rest days:
Eat & hydrate – continue to fuel your body with nutrients and water on rest days.
Stretch – combat delayed onset muscle soreness with stretches and foam rolling to break down lactic acid.
Sleep – regular sleep is essential every day, but can be hard to get with the mix of lifeβs activities. Plan your rest day to allow for 7-8 hours of sleep the night before and get to bed a little earlier.
Participate in a wellness activity – in the time frame you would typically hit a workout, plan to take care of your mental health. Read, meditate, journal, anything that makes you feel relaxed!
Stay active – keep the activity to low-intensity workouts like 30 minutes of walking or yoga
