At Activate House, our coaches bring unparalleled energy, passion, and inspiration to every class. This month, we’re excited to feature Rafa, whose journey into fitness and wellness is as remarkable as the enthusiasm he brings to every ride.
Rafa grew up in Imperial Valley, where summers were as intense as the tight-knit community was warm. Eight years ago, he moved to San Diego for college and fell in love with the city’s vibrant energy. With degrees in Accounting and Finance and a few lucky breaks in his career, Rafa decided to make San Diego his permanent home.
Fitness has always been a cornerstone of Rafa’s life. As an avid runner, he’s completed marathons, half-marathons, and countless 5Ks. But his passion for indoor cycling began more recently during the pandemic. Renting a bike and attending virtual classes, he fell in love with the high-energy vibes of spin—complete with dark rooms, mesmerizing lights, and heart-pounding EDM music.
When Rafa discovered Activate House, he knew he’d found a special community. “It came at the right time,” he shares. “I admire Stephanie’s vision and everything this space has done for so many people, including me.”
Rafa’s inspiration to coach stems from his desire to empower others. “My goal is to help people feel what I felt during my first spin class—mentally and physically stronger,” he explains.
Known for his electrifying playlists, Rafa loves curating tracks that keep riders motivated. From remixing Bad Bunny with Rufus Du Sol to energizing 6-minute runs, Rafa ensures every class is an unforgettable experience.
Rafa’s ideal workout combines weightlifting, a run by the pier, and a heated yoga session. Outside the studio, you’ll find him exploring new coffee shops, running along the beach, or enjoying the occasional chic speakeasy.
Although Rafa is a die-hard fan of EDM and techno, he’s also a devoted listener of Lana Del Rey and Billie Eilish. This year alone, he’s seen Lana four times in two different countries!
“Any effort is progress,” Rafa advises. “Don’t get discouraged if results aren’t immediate. Build strong habits, and they’ll transform into a lifestyle. Trust the process and remember—good things take time.”
“The members at Activate House are some of the coolest, most down-to-earth people I’ve ever met,” Rafa says. “This studio is more than a place to work out; it’s a community and a vibe. I’ve made incredible friendships here, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
Rafa encourages variety in your fitness routine. Whether it’s spin, pilates, or yoga, keep things fresh and listen to your body. And, of course, stay hydrated!
Join Rafa for a class filled with energy, positivity, and beats that will have you running out on third in no time. See you on the bike!
